The day started off hot, not unusual for this part of the world, South Sudan. The hot sun was beating down on me all morning and sweat was already seeping through my hat. I spend a lot of time in hot barren places, but extreme heat still can drain my energy.
During breakfast, it was announced there was going to be a wedding that day. The mid-day temperatures were sure to hit near to 40C and my instinct was to seek shade under the elevated huts and watch from a distance. I do not know how the tribes dance and sing for hours and hours through the harshness of mid-day.
As the sun began falling towards the horizon, I ventured out to photograph the beautifully adorned athletic Taposa women moving in circles while leaping high from the earth towards heaven in a dance for fertility.
