It had been a long hot day driving more than 10 hours across rough African roads when I finally caught my first glimpse of Lake Turkana; a vast body of water that seems as endless as the sea. This is one of the harshest areas I have witnessed, a barren land of volcanic rock, nothingness, intense heat, and strong winds.
